Drove down to check the progress on the Basin. Looks like maybe another month of work. Looks like boat access has been improved at the expense of windsurfing and Kite access. The side we usually rig sails on is now blocked by a large rock wall right where you would walk out. The side we usually rig kites and run lines on looks untouched for the most part; except for the parking lot. With the graded lot there looks to be less room to run lines. Not sure if they are going to build up the beach on that side with sand all the way down to the river jetty or not. I'm guessing not at this point. Looks like windsurfers and kiters will have to share the same side. The new bulkhead for the boat ramps extends a bit further than before. It looks like there will be a longer walk out on the point before launching in order to clear the bulkhead.

On the plus side maybe we'll have stronger thermals in the afternoons once they pave it in. And for those who kite it looks like the power line of death is gone. Just have to contend with slammin into those really nice bulkheads.
Rigged my 5.0 and then my 6.0 as winds were not steady yet. Then the blast came around 1:30pm with steady winds 25-30mph from the west. I sailed my 5.0 until about 4pm when winds started to get flukey. There were about 4 locals sailing too, they told me that had blown too on Sunday afternoon. The water was pretty cold, when I got out I felt I had bricks on my feets cause they were numb from the cold water.
When winds blow from the west, Monticello is a great location because is wide open to the west and winds seem to be steadier.
